Terra Beats Tesla As Second-Largest Corporate Bitcoin Holder After $1.5B Purchase

Terra’s commitment to filling up its coffers with Bitcoin has been solidified once more with another $1.5 billion purchase. This is the fruit of a pledge that the project had made to buy more than $10 billion worth of BTC to serve as a reserve for its stablecoin, UST. More importantly, though is how this boosts the foundation’s standing when it comes to corporations holding the digital asset.  Terra Now Holds More BTC Than Tesla Before Terra had begun its bitcoin buying spree, there have been other corporate bodies that had already made the plunge to do so. The likes of MicroStrategy, Galaxy Digital, and Tesla come to mind when thinking of this. While MicroStrategy had cemented its lead as the company with the largest BTC holdings, Tesla had retained its position in second place. That is, until now. With its most recent buy, Terra has now become the second-largest corporate bitcoin holder, beating out Tesla for the title. The deal was carried out as an over-the-counter (OTC) purchase in conjunction with cryptocurrency broker Genesis and Three Arrows Capital, a crypto trading and venture capital firm. The Luna Foundation Guard (LFG) which had begun accumulating BTC earlier this year has ramped up its buying. It is one of the fastest accumulation trends of any corporate bitcoin holder. Its first purchase had taken place in February, and now, barely three months later, the non-profit foundation now holds 80,393 total BTC. All of which come out to a dollar value of $2.9 billion at the time of its last purchase. It now holds almost double what Tesla holds, which currently sits at 48,000 BTC. Reiterating The Promise When Do Kwon, founder of Terra, had announced that the foundation was planning to buy $10 billion worth of BTC for its treasury, the question had been when. While participants in the space had speculated it would take a while before they began buying the coins, Terra had quickly moved forward to start. It had gradually added BTC to its treasury and in three months has now purchased more than a quarter of the $10 billion BTC. BTC falls below $36,000 | Source: BTCUSD on TradingView.com In an additional move, Terra had also moved to add another cryptocurrency to its treasury. This time around turning to Avalanche (AVAX) to do so. It had purchased a total of $200 million worth of AVAX, a trade that was carried out directly with the Avalanche Foundation. LUNA makes up the second-largest portion with $126.63 million making up 4.2%, AVAX at 3.5%, USDT AT 0.8%, and USDC at 0.7%. Featured image from Portal do Bitcoin, chart from TradingView.com

Demand For Polkadot Slumps; Where’s It Headed Next?

Polkadot has displayed negative sentiments on the chart today. Over the last three months, the coin had continued to hold its prices above the $14.40 price mark. At press time today, DOT was trading extremely close to that level. This comes after Polkadot had registered a price hike to $19 during the third week of last month. The bulls had tried very hard to defend the prices at the $16 price support level. DOT went on a slide and it hasn’t halted since. Prices of the asset tried to trade above the aforementioned support line and tried to push the price north but it seems like aiming for $24 could be far fetched for the coin at the moment. As prices have considerably fallen in the past week, buyers’ interest in the coin has also been waning off and that has added to the bearish thesis of the coin. Polkadot Price Analysis: Four Hour Chart Polkadot has been closing in on the support line of $14 as the coin was priced at $14.64 at the time of writing. The coin had managed to keep prices above the $14 support level for the past three months but at the moment, DOT was about to break through the support line. This has also suggested a fall in buying strength and that has caused prices to travel southwards. The volume of assets exchanged was seen in red and the bar was taller than the previous one which could mean an increase in selling pressure. DOT is trading on a three-month low price level and fall from this level would mean that it would trade near the $13.70 price mark. In case of a price reversal, the immediate resistance for the coin stood at $15.40 and then at $16.68. Related Reading | Polkadot, Vechain Founders Pledge Over $10 Million In Crypto To Ukraine Technical Analysis Price of the coin was seen trading below the 20-SMA as that indicated an increase of sellers in the market. Buyers have lost momentum in the market and sellers were responsible for driving prices ahead. Corresponding to the same reading, the Relative Strength Index continued on a downward slide. Buyers had exited the market as the coin was nearing the oversold territory. A push in the buying strength can help prices rise up above the 20-SMA and 50-SMA as seen in the third week of April. Over the last 24 hours, DOT lost 2% of its market value and in the past week, the coin registered a 16.2% downfall. MACD which is responsible for determining a price trend had portrayed green signal bars on the chart in anticipation that prices might see an upward swing but as the prices dipped, the green signal bars have lost their vigour. This indicated a change in price momentum and that could mean a continued downslide for DOT. Bollinger Bands (Blue) is an indicator that ascertains price volatility had depicted a squeeze which meant that volatility has decreased. This reading could mean a continued bearish price action for the coin over  immediate trading sessions. Why VeChain May Run Out Of Fuel After 90% Rally

VeChain has been able to preserve its current levels as the crypto market loses steam. The sector has seen a recent bullish price action which has led the price of VET and other digital assets to a yearly high. Related Reading | Why VeChain (VET) Could Be On The Verge Of A 40% Rally At the time of writing, VeChain (VET) trades at $0.083 with a 13% and 80% profit in the last day and 30-days, respectively, according to data from CoinGecko. Two weeks ago, NewsBTC reported a potential 40% rally for VeChain. Based on an analysis from Justin Bennett, the cryptocurrency was on the brick of breaking above a trend line which signaled potential appreciation. This trend line marked the beginning of a multi-month downtrend, and its reversal could take VeChain into the $0.10 price point. Therefore, Bennett called this move “significant in terms of the overall context of the market”. VeChain is yet to complete its full bullish trajectory into the $0.10 levels and beyond. However, it did manage to score a 90% rally, according to Bennett, destroying the market expectations of further downside: VET is the same project everyone on CT said was dead for months. +97% in 16 days is quite the move for a “dead” coin. Let that be a lesson for anyone who jumped on the CT bandwagon. Peak pessimism amongst the masses usually means a buying opportunity isn’t far away. The $0.080 point will be critical to determine if VeChain can sustain its current momentum. If these levels hold, VET’s price could appreciate further and return to its pre-crash levels from $0.10 to $0.14. Data from Material Indicators (MI) suggest potential resistance at VET’s price current levels. There are over $2 million in asks orders above the $0.080 mark which could operate as resistance. As seen below the most important level to break is $0.90 which holds the majority of asks orders. Above this price, there is little resistance. Will VeChain Continue To Appreciate? Additional data provided by Material Indicators (MI) suggest retail investors (orange in the chart below) have been buying into VET’s price recent price action. In the meantime, investors with larger orders (in green and red in the chart, with selling orders between $1,000 to $10,000) began selling. VeChain has sustained its momentum because investors with bids orders of around $100,000 (purple in the chart) have been continuously supporting its price. If this investor class continues to support VET, the price can stay at its current levels or trend to either side.
